MGTC Exterior Side Mirror

Post by Ron J. Zeraldo » Thu Dec 27, 2001 2:44 pm

I am restoring TC # 5911 and need the actual piece of convex mirror for the drivers side exterior mirror, mine is cracked and the silver backing is gone in a few places, the rest of the mirror is in perfect condition. I have tried numerous glass & mirror shops (both automotive and otherwise) and have been advised that a covex piece that size is not possible to custom make. I'm sure there are others that have run into the same problem...any suggestions? I live in Toronto, Canada.

Hi Ron, you could purchase a reproduction convex mirror from, say MOSS, for about $18 and take the glass out and use it in your mirror. I assume your mirror is round? Best Regards, Hugh in sunny B.C.

Hugh: I hate to burst your bubble, but the Moss TC mirror lists for $84.95US ea. I do stock the mirrors, and the glass by itself. Cheers: Skip Kelsey............................................ At 03:06 PM 12/27/01 -0800, Jennifer and Hugh Pite wrote:

I think Hugh was referring to the round fender mount mirrors, I'm looking for the glass mirror for the exterior rectangular mirror...thanks for your response! Ron

Ron, I have a repro rectangular TC exterior side mirror. Not sure if it is exactly the same size as an original, but, if anything, it's slightly larger and probably could be cut down. Contact me off list if you're interested and I'll measure it when I go home tonight. Dave Osborn TC 10217 TD 6551
