Hi Mark,
Bucket seats were indeed original to the TA Tickford. The leather seat
bottoms had bladders which were filled with air, the leather backs had carpet
matching material on the reverse and both rear supports pivoted forward.
They were adjustable forward and back and had a chrome plated knob to make
this adjustment. Rumor has it that the TA Tickford was made wider with frame
extensions to, among other things, accomodate the seats. After the war,
these extensions, and extra width, were retained for the TC. Unfortunately,
the bucket seats were replaced with a bench back ala the prewar TA roadsters.
By the way, I do have an extra set of Tickford bucket seats (dark biscuit or
tan) which are spares and surplus to TA Tickford 2969's on-going restoration
for anyone interested. (Currently working on the running boards and strips).
Have a Merry and a Happy!
Cheers, Lee Jacobsen, Dearborn, MI

Re: MG TC SEATS (Tickford)
Dear Lee ; You brought back memories. At the first GOF in Laconia, NH ( a
young handsome Bager was there). I rode in my first TA owned by Sam Mac
Donald from Watertown ,Mass. We spent a great deal of time pumping up the
seat every hour or so, to save our boney tushes. Badger (very lean and
gentle) had his first TC which he sold this year. About 40 years have elapsed
and we all are meeting again thanks to this terrific -T- club Tally Ho!
