I've always heard (and believed) that tne flat bumpers in the US came from Inskip Motors in NYC. They were the main distributor for the Eastern part of the US. I still have the brackets for these, but lost the bars themselves in about 1955 or '56. As a result, I have a pair of Stainless steel nerf bars on the front, and a replica "Inskip" bar on the rear of my TC. (When I bought her in 9/53, she wore a pair of "Kalifornia Kustom" tubular monstrosities which had been installed by a previous owner; I threw them away almost immediately [no Ebay in those days; today someone would probably buy the ugly things and think he'd done a good thing!!] Regards, Carl Fritz TC # 6756 (Betsy) VA # 2009 S (Abigail) Gainesville, Florida

I have an old Moss catalog, showing the strange "antenna" bumpers as a Moss product. It also shows Mr. Moss' foot in a photo, advertised as "foot-in photo by mistake"!! Best, Ray

Originally it was the tip of his shoe that showed but was listed as a toe. It is still in the catalogs though and depicted as a toe now. Look under the oil pan on the External Engine page of your MGT catalog. Part #68 Part # 459-299. Not Available anymore. Probably ran out of stock after selling two. To David and all, I must admit I never noticed the toe in the Moss catalog! While looking for it, I found it listed in the UK version of the Moss catalog as TOE, (whoops!), same part number. The UK catalog also has a flying toaster, illustration No. 84...listed as "LUVVLY," found on page 25. Who says the fine folks at Moss don't have a sense of humor (humour to those of you using the UK catalog!). My best from snowy and cold Colorado, Ben

Ben, That "toe" belongs to Al Moss who inadvertently while photographing a bunch of parts laid out on a tarp, got the fore of his shoe in the picture. Al was the one with the sense of humor since he gave it a part number along with the rest of the items. To the credit of subsequent proprietors of MM they have kept the "misstep" alive.
