Hey guys, The subject MG TA is for sale on ebay. The narrative says "Engine # MPJG2948. Car # TA/2675". The photo of the engine shows an air cleaner system which looks like a TD to me. Is it possible that this car has a TD engine or did TAs have a similar arrangement? Thanks. Doug Pulver TC 5850

Its definitely an XPAG - or possibly XPEG engine. There is another photo that shows the left side of the engine. The head is obviously an XP.G. The MPJG did not have the exposed pushrod tubes like the XPAG/XPEG. The oil filter setup is the later TD/TF setup so who knows. While we are nitpicking, the wheels are center laced. When was the switch made from side lace to center lace? Looks like it could make a pretty nice driver, though. If you are looking for a show car, forget it. Regards, Charles Hill

I had some problems with 16" wheels and wider tyres on my early TA, the narrow wing variety. Maybe they can be used but careful tyre selection will be needed I think. Tony TC9825

the engine in the TA is late TD or TF engine. My TA has the MPJG and it is not like that engine. Carlyle Merritt

Speaking of nitpicking, did anyone notice that the wheels pictured are aftermarket ones without the rolled edge!!
