The "MOWOG" clearly means it is from some vehicle in the Morris, Wolseley or MG lines, but I have no idea what. The "8/42" probably isn't a date because there was no auto manufacturing going on in 1942 in the UK. Typically MOWOG diffs were stamped that way to indicate the number of teeth on the ring and pinion. 42 teeth on the ring gear and 8 on the pinion mean your diff has a ratio of 5.25 to 1. It does fit and function perfectly. Of course I would like to obtain the proper dipstick though I have made a temporary one, marking according to filling the dry unit with the TC capacity.
