240 Z brake drums

as I have a pair I would like to fit. Apart from machining out the centre to fit the MG hub and redrilling, is there any other machining required? Can the surplus holes be welded up? or do they have to be filled by some other means? Thanks Ron Benson

Hi Ron, I havn t the experience by myself, but I found a article in the Bulletin of the Octagon Car Club: Trevor Vertigan wrote that is not to try welding up the existing Datsun stud holes, because the welding could cause cracks (2 of 8 have cracked!). He prefer to plug the holes. (Nov.2000/No366) Machining: You must also remove a bit of the fins at the backplate side to fit over the backplate. In Bulletin No370 / March 2001 there ist a nice pict of a drum.
