hello Charles
- I can help you with the your questions since I am the
Registrar for the T-ABC cars of the T-Register of the M.G.C.C. here in
Olde
England. The Register has been going since '63 (so we have a BIG
anniversary
celebration coming up at Silverstone in '03!) and I have been putting
details of all cars worldwide which we know about on a database for well
over 10 years now. The current state of play is:
TA: 1052 (35% of production), TB: 187 (49%), TC: 3008 (30%) Of course,
some of our info is quite old, so a few cars could have been scrapped, and
many more have new owners, but the encouraging thing is that they still
keep
turning up! I have not yet had a chance to correspond with Jerry Austin,
and
am also hopeful of getting other club lists from around the world, such as
the T-Type Owners of Holland (alledgedly nearly 400 T-types!)
The other point is that the M.G.C.C. holds the original factory production
records which give the orig. engine number and date of construction.
Unfortunately, all the service records were lost many years ago. There was
a
rumour about a fire but it is more likely that when BMC took over they
just
wanted the space. Mike Allison, who was working at Abingdon at the time,
managed to get most of the MMM service records away (they occupied 2
lock-up
garages, so the 53,000 odd T-type records would have taken much more. They
was just nobody around either able or willing to save them...)
To answer your query about EXUs, TC7380 thru TC7399 were EXUs. One rainy
day
I will list all the EXUs made.
TC7380 was owned by Warren Wendt in Temecula, CA. but he might have sold
it now. 7381 thru 7386 I have no record. 7388 is owned by Bob Thomas (Alamo,
CA.), 7390 Jim & Norma Crandall (Oxnard, CA.), both on the list. 7392 was
owned by Donald Titus when he was in Saratoga, CA., 7395 by Ralph Workman,
Albuquerque, NM. There seem to be more in California than anywhere else,
but quite a few back in the U.K.
