King Pin Bolt

I recently replaced my King Pin Bolts. The new ones are not quite like the originals. The old ones are adjustable with a nut on both ends, one end being peened over to allow a limited movement. The new ones have something that looks like a nut this end, but it is a fake! The other end has threads for a securing nut. I went ahead in installed them, however, they seem to be quite soft. One of the nuts stripped quite easily. Actually, it never even felt tight. Has anyone else had problems with these. It seems to me that these should be made of a hard material, perhaps I should seek another supplier.

Pieter, You mention King pin bolt; I assume this is what I call a cotter pin? I beleive the original cotters had a nut head which could move, and the other end a thread to take a 1/4BSF nut. The big head is on the reverse side of the front axle to contact the steering limit bolt on the steering knuckle. I ordered several sets from different suppliers, but found Roger's to be best, and fitted these. One supplier did sent rather soft cotters that were chewed by the king pin. They also did not have the big head on one end and could never have provided an effective limit stop for the steering.
