Ambitious as it was, "TC's Forever" is by no means the last word in anything. Good "reference", but nothing should be taken literally. Especially dimensions. Been there, ruined that. Mark TC8126

Mike Sherrells book, TCs Forever. Page 53 , only gives you a range of TC car numbers by month/year. It does not give the engine number, specific build date or notes. For example, re TC-1982, which I own, was produced between 6 Dec and 21 Dec. 1946 according to Sherrell. The MG Car Company records show "TC-1982 left the factory on 19/12/46 ( 19 Dec. 1946 ), Original engine number XPAG 2322 changed to XPAG 2411 at the factory, reference memo 49". The brass data plate shows XPAG 2411. So you see,.we have a lot more information available from the MG factory records. Is it important? You decide. I think so. Dear Bob & Group, If you belong to the New England MG T Register, Dick Knudson will provide the "build date" for your "T" series MG. He did this for me about a year ago. Just another source for the information. Craig Seabrook Whitworth Shop TC/0911 Robert Grunau wrote:

Good evening all- I need to add to this answer. I wrote Dick Knudson almost three years ago to find out what information he had on my TC and enclosed a SASE for the reply. To date I have heard nothing!! I'm a long time NEMGTR member, joining in 1967 and this was the first time I have requested anything from this club. This information was available at a Fall GoF of the NEMGTR some years ago and I was only hoping to learn more about my car. I sincerely hope you have better luck than I. I would recommend either MGCC or our own Roger Furneaux as a more reliable source for this type of information. Mike Walsh Bellevue, Washington

My 2 cents: I used production rates and dates (X cars built between date A and B) and found two lists that overlapped. I plotted a curve (remember interpolation back in high school?) and came up with a date for my TC of Oct 13th. On checking a calendar, that was a Sunday, so I used Oct 14th as the cars' birthday. I was happy for years. Then I was guided by this group to Roger. Roger did provide the data and warranty sheet, which listed a 'chassis laid down date' of Oct 10th for my car. Well, the 10th was a Thursday, so I figured 3 days to assemble the car. Then someone pointed out that they built several a day. I still think they could have taken 3 days to assemble the car, and rolled 10-12 off the end of the line each day. I know I could not put one together in less than a day, no matter how many helpers I had. Main mechanicals would assemble quickly, but the interior, hand tacked in, top fitting, hooking up instruments, wiring, which would seem to me to take longer than a day. When was the last time you put your car in the shop and got is back the same day, for anything more than a minor problem? I am not that insistent on nailing down the correct time to the exact hour. Anywhere around that weekend is close enough, remembering is was some 50 years ago. PTH MGTC 9912

The previous messages on this thread are what my previous message was about. We need a central easily accessible registry for MG Ts. The New England MG T Register is well known, but is only available to dues paying members. And as the previous post show, access to the information they have can be sporadic. My perception, which is shared by many people, is that they are an eletist organization. I have had similar experiences with the club that David has stated. I can also understand why Craig would be satisified. His name is well-known in MG T circles. David and I aren't. There has to be a better solution. Regards, Charles Hill

Wht not the MG Car Club T Register? Many years ago, the TC Motoring Guild started a TC register project. Big job, needs lots of TLC. Folks tended to lose interest.

Terry, You miss my point. I agree that Dick is a nice guy and has done a whole lot for our MGs. But I'm a midwesterner and do not understand the New England attitude. At least I still keep up my membership. I know of several other T owners in the midwest who want nothing to do with the NEMGTR. The point I have been trying to get across is that we need some sort of neutral registry for MG Ts without any of the baggage associated with many of the existing clubs/registers.
