Stu, I've had good luck with using automotive clear coat on all sorts of items including brass bathroom plumbing fixtures and exterior door handles. I use Dupont Chroma clear, but other manufacturers have similar products. Regards, Charles Hill

G'day Charles, Don't know where this thread started, but if I may, I'll throw in my two-bob's worth in support. Back in 1985 - 6 when we were finishing off the rebuild of the 'Tickford, it became obvious that I'd started a life-time job just polishing the brass fittings - fuel lines, lubrication lines etc. Hells bells! You'd finish one end only to see the end where you'd started 'mellowing' back to dullness. I used a small touch-up gravity feed spray gun to coat each item as the polishing was completed. I used a 2-pack automotive clear coat from Eurocryl, but then any quality auto product would do the job. I can attest to the effectiveness of this dodge. The brass and copy still glows bright, even round the carbies where you'd expect heat and petrol to deteriorate things rapidly. The car still sparkle and still rakes in awards whenever it makes an appearance at concours.... anything we can do to relieve the drudgery of preparation has got to be a plus. C'mon TATerry - I bet you could add to this...having seen some of the mouth-watering gear in your garage? Regards Jeff TA2828
