I heard from someone that Datsun 240Z brake drums are a good modification on
a TC. The size is the same, and they can easily be machined to fit onto a
TC hub.
Anyone have experience with or know details on this?

Know of two mods - both seem to work fine - one set polished, the other flat black. They do need machining though.

Tom,
Mike Goodman of this list and out of Van Nuys, Calif. has converted
many a TC over to the Datsun drums. If he doesn't answer here, his
email is:

New holes have to be drilled for the studs and you end up with both
TC and Datsun drill patterns. I believe however that Mike was able
to get a hold of some drums that did not have the original Datsun
drillings in them and made a cleaner installation. I hear they work
FANTASTIC.

Or can buy proper TC Alfin type new brake drums, which I just happen to have in stock. And they also work fantastic as they have a cast iron liner and look correct with the circumferenial ribs. Bob Grunau Tom,

Tom:
I would recommend that you contact Bob Grunau and inquire about his Alfin Drums.
They just bolt on, look fantastic and improve the stopping power.

Hi Tom, I have been doing the 240 Z drums for quite a while, There is a lot of machining to do. I made a jig to do this. I have a set of original ALFINS on my TC and the Z drums stop better. If you are interested, call me of line. My phone no is 818 9967388 . MIke Goodman. Mike Goodman Sport Cars
