sidescreen box/rear body dimensions.

Mark,
My cream car is still tankless and new at the rear. I'll take some
measurements tonight but I used Sherrel's dimensions for the rear
panel and I don't remember any problems with that dimension.
You don't mention how the side panels of the sidescreen box fit.
From what I remember, the nail down strip should line up with the
apexes of the front edges of the sides.
I'll come back to you tomorrow if the problem has not been solved.

OK Mark,
I've printed your email and I'll check on all the measurements
tonight. Mine all fits perfectly so hopefully we'll find the problem.
Right now it looks to me like your metal work has a problem unless
your "sticks" round the diff ramp are 1/4" too thin.
Where are you in this small electronic world of ours?
We have 1650hrs right now and I'm off home to haul out my inch
tape measure.
Some how I did not press the send button last night so here is
what I found:
1. As I though, all of Mike Sherrell's dimensions are correct. I
measured these against my cream tub on the chassis and also
against some original sidescreen compartment side timbers.
2. I've got 9.25" as per M.S and the correct diff ramp frame
thickness and it all fits OK.
3. If you think about it 9.25" and the correct frame thickness
means that your error must be is the dimension of the front of the
sidescreen compartment steel sheet.
3. I suggest you measure this carefully against Sherrell's drawing
of the metal and the wooden side piece. I'll bet there is 1/4 inch
adrift somewhere and you'll just have to re-bend and trim the front
metal lip.
4. When I got my compartment bent up, I took the original side
piece along to the sheet metal shop as well as the Mike S. drawing
to make sure that it all matched.
Cheers
Viv
THanks, Viv-
I am stumped.
Here are 2 more dimension from where I am now:
Top of the back of the wooden side curtain box, where it fits to the
backboard, down to the body angle below it: 11-5/8".
The top of the body angle, midway between the backboard and the
diff ramp,
down to the top of the axle case: 7.0".
The side curtain box sides fit well with the tin at the back, but it
seems
to miss the corner edge where the rear tin makes the bend, around
3/4 of the
way up from the sidecurtain bottom. It would seem if I raised the
sticks
that form the diff cover up around 1/4", it would all go together. That
makes me suspect my body angle is low, but it is bolted at
Sherryls 9.25" up
from the backboard bottom...
Thanks in Advance,
Mark
