springs and things

Clarification required please. The TC hand brake cross shaft has a return spring which on our car is located on a metal circular clamp ring on the cross shaft. The spring connects forwards to a small hole in the chassis cross tube bracket in order to assist the ' fly - off ' action. I have however , noticed a small hole in the base of the handbrake lever which perhaps is a spring mounting point. If so , where does it connect to as there is no obvious rearward fixing point and if so, why two springs ? With reference to the brake light spring , (ref. item 22 on page 21 of the Moss cat.) , there is a hole for a spring in the base of the brake pedal and I have connected the brake light switch spring to this . The brake light switch is actuated ok but is the connection correct ? In the Moss cat. there is shown a brake clip ( item 25 on the same page ) - what is this for ? Also , where does the brake pedal return spring connect to and from ? I would have thought that it should connect to the base of the brake pedal and forwards perhaps to a point on the brake switch bracket. Both springs cannot locate in the same hole in the brake pedal - or perhaps the ' brake clip ' is used as an auxiliary connecter to the brake pedal ! Hope that I have not confused too many TC 'ers ! George To understand the set-up of springs on the brake pedal, you need a copy of that TSO article mentioned recently. Let me have your fax number and I'll send it to you. Mike Card TC8233 Surrey, England
