TA vs P Type Rear Wings

Post by MGVADICK@aol.com » Fri Aug 24, 2001 3:26 pm

Anybody out there know if there is any interchangeability between P Type rear wings and the narrow wings as fitted to the early TA. I am still looking for a pair and have been offered a pair of P Type for consideration. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Dick Duncan , TA 0543 and way to many others.

TA vs P type Rear Wings

Post by nakleyn@iafrica.com » Sun Aug 26, 2001 8:46 am

Hi Dick and members. I have just purchased a 1936 TA engine no MPJG3295 (I do not know if this is the original engine). The TA was partly restored between 1974 and 1980. The rear wings are the narrow early TA type and if you let me know the dimensions you would need to check the P type I will measure them for you. I would appreciate it is you could tell me the best books giving detail of the early TA. Thanks Nico Kleyn

Attached (sorry to those with slow computers) are photos from Autocar test of P type and early TA. As you can see the P is more upswept, the shape at the bottom of the sweep is also different. That is not to say p type won't fit a TA, I don't know, but it won't look right. I had a narrow wing TA and I never really came to terms with those rear wings, always preferring the P or late TA/TC so, if they fit....... slap my wrists! Tony TC 9825

What part of "DON'T SEND PICTURES TO THE ENTIRE LIST" do you not understand?! I'm one of "those with slow computers" you flippantly referred to below, who have requested list members to refrain from sending pictures to the entire list. This request was made for a reason!! Your picture took over 15 minutes to download on my computer. If you want to post pictures, put them on a website, or just send them to those who actually request them! Got it?! Bob

Good God man! Fifteen minutes? For that? You must have one of those old steam powered jobs. Hint: If you look at the back of your computer at the serial number and it consists of three digits or less, if it has a crank start, or if you need to have a battery and jumper cables next to your desk to get it going, it just might be time to upgrade. Bob I apologise for causing you a problem, sending images with text is a commonplace activity for me, although I only use a modest I Mac.( that image took about a minute). I feel that e-mail and the serving systems are geared to sending all manner of media and it seems a pity that its capacity should not be fully used. Yes, images can be posted on web sites, (I've never done this, by the way, and am unsure of the method) but is it not simpler, in general, to have them with the text? It would be useful to have other listers views on this matter for I am not sure how big a problem this is. Maybe we should try to have a document size limit (the image I sent btw, was only 96k, I deliberately kept it small) Regards Tony TC9825

Those of us who live out in the boondocks where dial up is the ONLY alternative would appreciate it if you would not send pictures to the list as the list instructions state. It tied up my computer for five minutes and was really of no interest to me.

I have "dial up", a backward telephone company and a fairly old computer. This download which I was very happy to have, only took 23 seconds Of course that is much slower than the delete key which is lightning fast. Thanks for sending it Tony. Dick

When dealing with a mailing list, it's generally better to send a message to the list saying you have the pictures and that you will send them via private e-mail to anyone who requests them. That way you don't bombard everyone on the list with the file attachment. This is standard "netiquette" practice. -- Chip Old (Francis E. In a message dated 8/27/01 4:03:51 AM Pacific Daylight Time, tonygoodall@blueyonder.co.uk writes: > Tony, I personally had no problem with your post as its my choice to download or not...and if any lister doesn't have their computer set up so that they make this choice, they are just asking for a virus infectation. Attaching big files to an email is not considered good netiquette in any case. The alternate way is to give folks an opportunity to ask you for the file. However, that said, we have our own web page at yahoogroups.com and it is extremely easy to post pictures or text files there and you have the option of sending a message to the group announcing what you are posting. It'd be nice to see more stuff posted there. Try it. Terry in Oakland
