To all helpful members and notations to the rest, too:
We have 11 gallons of gas .
The coil is a sport coil, its fine
The points were checked for insulation and mounting and spacer and gapped, again.
The distributor cap ----all three are good. Did find the one on the car had a very soft spring behind the Coil contact point and it was a bit sticky, too.(New Moss part) I remanufactured it so it won't stick.
The condensor has been replaced the third time
Considering everything we decided to replace the rotor (new 6 weeks 100 miles ago).
The TF started just fine.
After the start-up was finally achieved we were running on three cylinders, again.
Decided to check the condition of the plugs. We had cleaned and gapped them only Yesterday. After a short spin the plugs were pulled and examined-----three showed evidence of rich running and one was totally clean and dry?????? The installed plugs were Autolite and We had a set of AC's in the travelling tool box. Replaced the 'clean' one and we now have 4 cylinders of lovely contented MG noises.
Tomorrow we will investigate the rich running, . . . Sally Carroll and Marty, too(My younger son) Who says perseverance doesn't run in families. . . And of course telephone and internet consultants, doesn't hurt either. . . Thanx
