Harry, The car in the photos looks mighty rough - but - the good part of it is it's a highly desirable model - the TA Tickford. The problem is I have no idea of their worth (and especially in this condition). Can someone on the list that's more familiar with the TA contact Harry and let him know what he'd be getting into? The links to see the car are: http://www.classicmotorauction.com/catalogue/front.jpg http://www.classicmotorauction.com/catalogue/side1.jpg http://www.classicmotorauction.com/catalogue/back.jpg http://www.classicmotorauction.com/catalogue/inside.jpg Thanks, Gene

As you both recommended, I already joined the T ABC list Would you please do me another favor? On the site WWW.classicmotorauction.com under ref. find a car .filling in Mg and T ,there is a T serie for sale ,realy in a very rotten shape( as the pictures shows) As you are more experienced than I am,could you give me a little bit more information about this type of MG? Is the asked price also a little bit correct(5000 pound Sterling aprox.6300 US$). I don't want to do the bargain of the year, but also don`t want to be stripped from the beginning. Thank you very must for a reply I'm sorry , that once again I have to refer to you both, but where I am living here in Spain, nobody can help me,because they don't even know that an MG is a car. Thank you very much for a reply Best regards Harry

Harry, having just finished an 11 year restoration of an SA Ticford that was in better shape than this car is, I would say its worth 1/2 the asking price....you'll need all new wood, perhaps a new tub all together and they must be a reason they didn't want to take the tarps completely off the car for photographs. Being a TA its likely to have the wrong engine and if not, the engine is likely to have cracked heads and/or block. If you enjoy the restroration process....meaning every nut and bolt off and lots of wood and metal work, go for it. But I'd inspect it carefully even at the $3K level. Terry Sanders Oakland, CA. USA

OK Jeff, I got your point the first time and the second time and now the third time and I stand corrected. "Not worth saving" is too strong, don't know what I was thinking. However, I think it is probably in the "too hard basket" for our friend in Spain who appears not to have any local help. Incidently, I don't agree that it's only the "size of the MG owner's heart" that's important, one must also consider the size of his wallet. Doug Pulver TC 5850

Do we know where "our friend in Spain" actually is? Perhaps there are others who can help out. DAI --- DougPulver@aol.com wrote: > In a message dated 8/22/2001 4:41:22 AM Pacific

Terry, In response to your questions below, I am indeed in North America. I work for Jim Alcorn of Auto Vintagery in San Diego, California, USA. Jim is very well known for his restoration work with MGAs (especially twin cams) and the restoration of his 1938 MGVA Tickford. We currently do have 3 PAs in the shop for total restoration and 1 PA body tub for another customer. We will be sure to let the owners know about the MMM. Incidently, if any of you are in the San Diego area, please stop by the shop on Saturday. Email me or give Jim a call first to make sure we will be there (since we all have "real" jobs during the week). His number is (858) 452-2666 . Where is this Doug? We need to make sure the PA owners belong to the North American MMM Register if you are indeed in N.A.!! Cheers Terry >>

I am having a good cleanout of many MG models and lots of MG literature, period adverts, memorabilia, and just plain stuff on ebay. Here's a great chance to fill up that empty closet shelf that's been bothering you. Have a look. Let me tell you how ebay works. Its REALLY neat. You will find something you need for a restoration, email the seller, pin down all points, make sure (as sure as a monitor will allow) its really worth the effort. Then you bid. This may go back and forth several times between you and some other fellows. You put in a "proxy bid" with your maximum bid amount. Be sure to value it well so you will win, because you need this part. Spend the better part of a week checking the progress of the auction, Cant wait to get this needed part. 5 minutes to go, looks good. No one has even bid against you in two days.Just wait for the email that says you won with that fair bid. Make plans to go to the bank to get this fellow a cashiers check. OK, Times up and......SOME CLEVER BASTARD WITH HIGH SPEED ACCESS OUTBIDS YOU BY 2 BUCKS WITH 1 SECOND REMAINING. Auction over. You never stood a chance. NOW, Wasnt that fun? Mark TC8126

Can anybody tell me how to install a Fume Pedal Excluder for a TC, do you have to take the floor boards out? Bill Rick TC 6993 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
