Harry, The car in the photos looks mighty rough - but - the good part of it is it's a highly desirable model - the TA Tickford. The problem is I have no idea of their worth (and especially in this condition). Can someone on the list that's more familiar with the TA contact Harry and let him know what he'd be getting into? The links to see the car are:

Hello Carl and Gene Thank you very much for answering my advert on the MG cars site. As you both recommended, I already joined the T ABC list Would you please do me another favor? On the site
WWW.classicmotorauction.com under ref. find a car .filling in Mg and T ,there is a T serie for sale ,realy in a very rotten shape( as the pictures shows) As you are more experienced than I am,could you give me a little bit more information about this type of MG? Is the asked price also a little bit correct(5000 pound Sterling aprox.6300 US$). I don't want to do the bargain of the year, but also don`t want to be stripped from the beginning. Thank you very must for a reply I'm sorry , that once again I have to refer to you both, but where I am living here in Spain, nobody can help me,because they don't even know that an MG is a car. Thank you very much for a reply Best regards Harry

Harry, having just finished an 11 year restoration of an SA Ticford that was
in better shape than this car is, I would say its worth 1/2 the asking
price....you'll need all new wood, perhaps a new tub all together and they
must be a reason they didn't want to take the tarps completely off the car
for photographs. Being a TA its likely to have the wrong engine and if not,
the engine is likely to have cracked heads and/or block.
If you enjoy the restroration process....meaning every nut and bolt off and
lots of wood and metal work, go for it. But I'd inspect it carefully even at
the $3K level.

I absolutely agree with Terry. I work weekends in a shop specializing in MG
restorations (primarily MGAs although we currently have 3 PAs in the shop).
All things are possible, but the gentleman in Spain sounds like he's pretty
isolated from help. I wouldn't want to rebuild a car around a gearshift knob
- especially when this one doesn't look worth saving.

OK Jeff,
I got your point the first time and the second time and now the third time
and I stand corrected. "Not worth saving" is too strong, don't know what I
was thinking. However, I think it is probably in the "too hard basket" for
our friend in Spain who appears not to have any local help. Incidently, I
don't agree that it's only the "size of the MG owner's heart" that's
important, one must also consider the size of his wallet.
