Hi all,
Thanks for all the information on dealing with oily rear brakes. I've been
reading over Sherrels book again and plan to make to the proper shims, use
sealer on the hub flange and try again.
On to another question... Sorry for the length and ambiguity.
Anyone have the proper assembly sequence for the handbrake cable on a TC?
I'm replacing two frozen cables that had not been assembled corrrectly or
even the same side-to-side. I have new cables from Abingdon Spares. On the
wheel end are the following parts; a small slotted ferrule, a felt pad, a
small washer followed by the long spring then the gizmo that the spreader
hooks into. How much of this assembly remains on the brake shoe side of the
backing plate? I guess what I'm trying to ask is where does this slotted
ferrule come into play? It looks like the slots in the ferrule are just the
right size to fit into the slotted part of the brake shoe side cable clamp
plate but things don't lie right if I try this.
If I assemble things in the easiest way (leaving only the felt pad inside
the hub side) I have a problem with the cable not releasing completely when
the brake lever is released.
Sorry if this makes no sense. Maybe I need a picture.
Thanks again,
Dave
