Hi all,
The complete engine overhaul that started with a timing chain replacement has
now
got to the oil pump - has anybody replaced the gears recently? After a
struggle I have got the old driven gear off but it was a very tight fit so
the question is what is the best way to put the new one on. The problem I
envisage is correct alignment of the keyway
ie after belting the gear a third way onto the shaft can I confirm that the
key is lined up, or am I worrying unduly. What is the small groove for in the
fixed shaft and should it be in any particular position.
Regards and happy MotorinG to all,
Brian 1948TC

Scary content! This past Thursday was a public holiday in SA and I used the
opportunity to replace TC 8675 timing chain and insert a leather washer
behind the tensioner. The replaced chain had stretched 4mm and together
with washer, XPAG 3111 now just purrs along! However, had I read your
message before Thursday, heaven knows whether one thing would have lead to
another - including an engine rebuild!

Brian,
Sounds like a tip I should know about! Could you please repeat, I missed it
somehow.
Many thanks.
