Re TA hoods

Post by Geoff Love » Sun Aug 12, 2001 6:40 am

I have received several responses to my enquiry re the width of the TA hood frame, for which I am grateful. Now, here are a couple of additional questions for the aficionados to ponder, although I have a good idea as to what the answer maybe. If the TA body is narrower than the TC's, and the hood frame matches correspondingly, is it possible to adapt the Moss Motors TC's fabric to fit the TA frame? I am of the opinion that, unless there is some obscure, esoteric manufacturer of TA hood covers lurking in some dark corner of the world, it will be necessary to fabricate a custom cover. In which case where does one obtain the correct, original type material? And, what is it anyway? As always, many thanks in advance for any wisdom. Geoff Love.

But they are easily made locally. and why would one want the original type material with shrinks and fades when StayFast is available and looks the same? Terry

Geoff There are quite a few suppliers in the UK, I used Don Trimming in Birmingham, Fax 0121 377 7631, they advertise TA hoods made in PVC or double duck. Collingburn can also produce in canvas or wigan, and are good for originality, email mcolling@globalnet.co.uk. I would be surprised if there are no U.S. suppliers - Abingdon Spares? are they still going? Tony TC9825
