Silicone based weatherproofing

I have a beautiful 20-year-old Windmill double duck canvas top which is
starting to get pretty leaky. On his latest trip through Europe, Harry Pyle
gave me the suggestion of waterproofing it with a silicone based dressing
used for waterproofing canvas tents, to prolong the life of this hood. He
said it comes in a can, is a milky white color, can be brushed on and dries
colorless, and totally flexible. He suggested looking where camping equipment
is sold, but so far I haven't been able to track down a source for such a
product. Harry will be traveling for several months still and cannot be
reached. I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions as to what this
product might be called and where I could find it. Has anyone had any
experience using anything like this? Any help or suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.

In the UK we used to use a product called NEV, but there are others I believe. I would have thought a sizeable camping and caravan outlet should carry such a product although the more general use of nylon based fabrics may have restricted its use somewhat. Some outdoor clothing manufacturers have also, in the past, been known to supply similar products eg ROHAN in the UK.
