What is the purpose of the hole (mine has a rubber grommet on it) under the radiator on the drivers side of the valance? Tom Wilson TC0272

And the purpose of the grommet, of course, is to fill the hole. How exquisitely neat and functional! The real question is, what is the purpose of the valance? (We may be getting very close here to "meaning of life" sort of questions)

I didn't realise that "42" involved the use of a Grommet - at least, not what I'd call a Grommet anyway. Still, some people have strange fantasies! There should be 2 holes and they should have MG part S27/45 - "rubber ferrule for front splasher" fitted. The function is to stop the bottom of the radiator cowl fretting against the splash panel (valance). Regards Cliff

And what pray tell, oh guru of the garage, is the purpose of the louvers stamped into that valance? Perhaps to cool the front axle which has heated up from an excess of friction in the Bishop cam box? Inquiring minds want to know.

According to my copies of the original blueprints, they are debris drains.....probably for mud and the like. They also stiffen the assembly, much as your use of Viagra does for your frontal assembly. Also, they LOOK cool! Best, Ray McCrary "Speed is Life; of course Luck and Altitude are helpful, too."

Hey Ray; you mention "original blueprints". Is it possible that you have access to stuff that the rest of us don't, but would kill for? -----Original Message----- From: Ray McCrary [mailto:spook01@home.com] Sent: Friday, June 22, 2001 8:42 AM To: mg-tabc@yahoogroups.com; mrbadger Subject: Re: [mg-tabc] Front Valance hole According to my copies of the original blueprints, they are debris drains.....probably for mud and the like.
