gas tank leak

hello every one , i have this problem with the sending unit on a 1948 tc . i have installed a new gas tank from moss and a new sending unit as well . i put about 4 gals. of gas in the tank and the gas just pours out all over the place , from around the sending unit seal , which is not very functional . i'm looking for a permanent solution to the problem . please respond with a answer. much thanks to all . brian member # 343 p.s . the original gas cap dosn't fit on the new tank either any clues . Brian, I had the same problem, as well have many others. Over a year ago I carefully sealed the unit in place with a new gasket and careful application of a good quality gas resistant sealant. Pay close attention to the screws, I don't see how they were kept from leaking even new. I finally made small gaskets out of gasket material and also sealed the threads to the tank. Like I said, over a year ago and no leaks. Ben Cordsen, TC4260

Hi Brian, there is a grommet-seal on market. It is around 3-4mm (sorry, I m metric) thick and would solve your problem. For the screws i use "Loctite" thread sealant. lozi (TC3762)
