scuttle bolts

I am at the point that I am ready to paint my scuttle , I read in Mike Sherrell's book page 69 that the scuttle bolts and washers are black can anyone tell me if they were painted black or they colored black as in gun blued. This a 1947T.C. #3409 Thanks Rolland Meismer

Rolland, the bolts on both tcs that I have had were finished in a standard black as are many new bolts in the UK. It is probably a similar process to gun barrel blueing. Doug
