Need help here
I have a 40 kilo package (car parts), coming from the UK to the west coast
USA. Too big for UPS and UPS will be maximum duty. Suggestions please for a
carrier! Boat is not an option. Need the stuff as soon as possible within
reasonable expense.

Joe:
Can it be broken down into two packages? Eighty Eight lbs. is not such a
big package, but it might be better handled as two packages. I import a lot
of parts direct, and UPS seems to work OK.
I also use an outfit called Unishippers. They are a shipping broker. They
can work out discounted shipping with major shipping companies. Mostly I
get Airborne express. You should call them at 1-888-279-8039. Ask for
"Jackie". They may be able quote you a price.

If anyone has an inexpensive way to ship four tyres from the UK to USA,
please contact me. These are not for a TC (they are 205/60R15 for my
MGC) so they area bit more bulky. Thanks in advance for any info!

hi Steve - I have started to use an outfit called Parcel2go.com - you can probably accesss them from the US. You type in the dimensions & weight, they give you an instantaneous quote from several different carriers and you chose one. The cheapest is usually DHL. Insurance is very reasonable, and you pay immediately using Paypal. You have to print off four copies of their paperwork with barcodes, so the seller would have to do this for you, together with three copies of a list of contents with value, for customs.
I recently sent a consignment of many hundreds of nuts & bolts to Tom Metcalf: emailed Parcel2go on sunday night, DHL picked up Monday morning - box arrived in Ohio on Wednesday - incredible!
cheers
Roger

Hi Roger
Many thanks for the tip - I will add them to my favorites and give them a go
next time I need them. I had heard of them when I lived in the UK . but
never used them.
