TC carb questions

I am finally getting around to installing a new set of TC carbs supplied
to me by Burlen Fuel Systems a couple of years ago. Two questions arise
in planning what needs to be done in setting them up:
1. The linkage supplied by Burlen is basically a coil spring connector
that I've never seen. I'm only familiar with the usual W links. Anyone
have experience/advice about the spring(s)? I think can use the
perfectly good set of W links from the old carbs, but wondered about the
ones Burlen included.
2. What metering needle specs should be used with US unleaded gas?
