LEDs;Ca

Hello All,
There has been a sudden surge of interest and msgs flying back and forth
on how to use / not use them in a TABC car. I understand that the LEDs can
put out a lot of light for little power consumption / amps.
Is this the LEDs only advantage?
Since I don't mind using a good bit of juice for the sake of having
bright tail-lights, and extra-powerful bulbs are readily available & cheap,
I'm confused by the excitement over LEDs.
Can someone please tell me why I should get excited about LEDs?
(It seems somehow vaguely out of character for a TC to have such a
"new-physics" device intalled, but I don't want to be labeled a curmudgeon.)
While I have your attention, I want to mention another variable in this
tail-light matter that no-one has brought up thus far . The AREA of the
lighted object (as well as its intensity/brightness) has a lot to do with
its visibility.
(If you'll think back a few years , I'm sure you will remember that many car
manufacturers toutied the extra safety given to their products by the HUGE
tail-lights they had. The 50s & 60s U.S. Fords are prime examples of this
tail-lights-the-size-of-dinnerplates phenomenon!)
Regards,
Carl Fritz

We had always used brighter bulbs...of course that was for one original D
lamp on a TB which has a high - low charging switch and a three brush
dynamo. It was fine...but it is not a TC so......
