T-BC Heating Problems

Gentlemen: Scanning the messages, many members have written of overheating problems. I own a TB and live in San Antonio, Texas where day-time summer temperatures can or exceed reach 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Overheating can occur at cruise (inadequate radiator cooling), slow speeds and at stop signs (inadequate fan cooling)and can cause vapor lock due to due to radiation heat from the manifold. These difficulties are all solvable. First, replace your two-core radiator with a three-core, high efficiency radiator...I defy anyone looking at one to tell the difference between it and the original. Second, replace the heavy, steel four-bladed fan with a light-weight, seven bladed MGB fan. Third, install a heat shield. I like the one from Brown & Gammons:heavy gauge, machined aluminum plate backed with an asbestos liner; very handsome addition to your engine and better yet, stops vapaor locks. If anyone owning an XPAG-engined car would like to know more, email me at Aristarcus@aol.com and I'll email you a paper describing in detail everything you need to make these changes, including part numbers. Paper does not address the TA. BTW, on the hottest days, my water temp does not exceed 83 degrees Centigrade and...I no longer have overheating problems at stop signs, in heavy traffic and in parades. Cheers, Skip Burns
