Torrington bearings

Post by Ray McCrary » Thu Feb 22, 2001 9:47 am

Does anyone have the p/n for the Torrington flat bearings and spacers to use in a kingpin rebuild? I couldn't find them on the tech site. Thanks, Ray McCrary "Speed is Life; of course Luck and Altitude are helpful, too."

Hi Ray, Torrington NTA-1220 needle bearing. 3/4" bore x 1.250" OD. TRA-1220 = hardened washer, 0.031" thick. TRB-1220 = hardened washer, 0.062" thick. TRC-1220 = hardened washer, 0.093" thick.. Usually one TRA and one TRB washers are needed to make up the required total thickness under the axle beam. I would install the thinner washer to the top as it bears completely on the axle eye. Thicker washer under bearing on the steering knuckle side as the bushing may not give total bearing area. Shim top of king pin to achieve 0.004" vertical clearance. Bob
