Just a thought.... MG referred to the cars by chassis number. What was good enough for CK might still be good enough for latter day owners... Ray Happy Ramahanakwannamas during the Mid winter solstice break...How's that for PC?? To heck with it...MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!!!

Dear Terry: Looks like my: CKV suffix registration is valued at 1798 pounds/about $3500. Amazing and original to my 1937 VA DHC. I believe it is from Coventry. Hi Peter, Terry gave you a good source, but they did not go into any great detail. No explanation of the three letter marks and they also stopped at the letter 'M' for all of the double letters, ie my plate , EFY 50, would not fall under their list. According to a 'general information' book on British Index marks, "the three letter marks of any Authority are formed by the addition of a prefix letter to the authority's existing two-letter marks. To determine which Registration Authority issues any three-letter mark, the last two letters of the mark should be looked up on the following list. For example, to find the place of origin of any of the marks AOA, BOA, COA, look up OA (Birmingham) or AKA. BKA, or CKA, look up KA (Liverpool.)" So, your plate MG 5441 is indeed rare, the authority being Middlesex C.C. (County Council). My TA 2969 plate , EFY 50, is found by looking up FY which is issued by Southport B.C. (Burgh Council) It has a prefix of E as they ran out of two letter capacity. My SA2333 tickford plate, CTF 319, is found by looking up TF on the list which is issued by Lancashire C.C. I contacted them by email and for 10 pounds they will send me via mail a copy of the original registration book issued to the original owner. I told them my registration was old, in the 1930's, they chuckled, "our records go back to 1722 if you please!" No bother.... . The Bentley, XL 7728, is issued by London C.C. If you want a copy of the complete 'list' , send a fax number and I will fax it. It is 4 pages. Hope this helps sort out the confusion.
