Dear Cliff;I was a boy racer in the 50,s. 'Twas a nice touch and gives that old fashioned look that is so classic. It is emotion not reason that prevails in the aesthetics. I to was a boy racer!! If you like the look then please do it and enjoy it. Our hobby is all about our own fun and pleasure. The preferences of others (like me) should never influence what you do or don't do. It must be a personal choice if it is to remain fun. I must admit I prefer bonnet straps to fins, plated or otherwise. Regards Cliff
