Welcome to our 1204th member   Brashear, Foster ---foster@adastran.com---- Conifer, CO, USA    1948 TC 5522 XPAG 6167   who writes:   I have had this car for a long time. I always wanted one, even when I was a kid. I grew up in Denver, and when I was in high school I happened upon a book in the school library called The Red Car which was about a kid in Colorado who got a TC that had been wrecked on a mountain road. I just looked the book up on AMAZON, and surprisingly, it is still around! Reading the reviews I realized that a lot of young people were touched by the book, and of course, the little red car. Later, when I was married and living in Southern California, I ended up living across the street from a guy who had a TC. I badgered him for about a year until he sold it to me. It was a little ratty, had a lot of mismatched parts, plastic seat covers from Tijuana, etc., but I didn t care. It was red and I loved it. It was a sad day when it burst into flames one day a few months after I bought it. I later found out that it had some non-stock high-pressure fuel pump that had caused the problem. I was extremely distressed. I was a backyard mechanic, but fixing something like this was way beyond me. Luckily, I found Mike Goodman s Moss Motors on Venice boulevard in LA. Mike was a full-on expert on T-cars and took pity on the kid with the burned up TC. He made me an extremely generous offer: He said he would give me a bay in his garage, sell me parts at a discount, and lend me his tools and his expertise, but only if I would promise to do a full restoration, and do it right. I didn t have much money so it took a long time, but eventually we sent to England for the leather, rounded up all of the missing parts, and fixed everything. We took the body off of the frame, sandblasted, had new lacquer paint, rebuilt the engine and transmission, and did in fact, do it right. Mike just wouldn t have it any other way. It was extremely beautiful, and I showed it a lot. The high point was the Concours at Pebble Beach. We got second in class, behind an immaculate TA Tickford drophead coupe. It was a great day! I was hired by a company in Boston and took the car with me, but really never got into the show scene there. Eventually I came back to Colorado and bought a house in Conifer. The car was mothballed in my garage, up on blocks, since 1982. It was last registered in 1973! A couple of months ago I decided to get it on the road again, and maybe (shudder) even sell it. It s all shined up now, and is in fact currently listed on ebay, but only until tomorrow. I still love the car, and the T community. Whether or not I sell it, I would like to be a member of your club. Jim,

Thank you for the e-Christmas card!

By coincidence, it is almost exactly like the MG-TABC Christmas ornament I have for sale on ebay, #170952999412 with Santa driving and his favorite reindeer as nervous passenger.

As a reminder, this ornament has only one day left for the 2012 casting run after which they will not be available. Your car number may be engraved on the ornament by including a comment upon purchase.

Happy Motoring Holidays everyone and thank you again for the fun card Jim.

Ben Cordsen in Colorado

Welcome to our 1209th member       Morris, Jeff ----ifly@eircom.net  ------County Meath, Ireland         1948 TC 6406 TD engine      who writes:     "My name is Jeff Morris, I live in County Meath Ireland and I own TC 6406. I've owned it since 1983 and it's been off the road since 1986. I'm trying to get it together now before I get too old!
This car was built in Ireland from a CKD kit in 1948 as far as I know. when i got it it was in race trim with a bored out XPAG and I have an early TD unit in it now. It has an Aluminium body tub, but the rest is steel. It has standard wings.
At the moment it's a kit once again, but I am working away on it and hope to have it done within a year, anyhow.
=== and - from YouTube   I wonder whose car this is ?             1949 MG TC Starting newly rebuilt engine - YouTube           This 1949 MG TC is in our shop, Rumbleseat Restorations being restored. The engine and transmission were in terrible shape and had to be rebuilt completely, including machining, a new crank, con rods etc. Finding these parts in North America was difficult, time consuming and expensive but the engine is back together and running great. This is the first time the car was started since being rebuilt. www.rumbleseatrestorations.com   === and - That's it for now from   Jim Shade

Re: [mg-tabc] Update from Jim Per the Rumbleseat Restorations website they are located in Mission, B.C. Canada (just east of Vancouver) so perhaps belongs to someone living near there.  We have several members from around that area that might know of the TC on YouTube.
