Well said Madhu,  with classic cars, the times I have been most dissapointed with my self is when a great car I have purchased, running or not, deteriorates further from sitting unused.

Hi Murray and all other members, First of all let me wish you all a happy and Prosperus 2014. There is a saying in Germen. " wer rast der rostet " That means those who sleep get rusted. I heard a another Duch saying " it is better get worn out than getting rusted ". I think that we MG T- owners can opt this. Let us drive our T-A, B or C before it start getting rusted.  We also had to be active and fit so that the T- drivers also do not get rusted. So let me pray that all T-drivers remain healthy and cars accident free.

A man after my own heart. My TC is a Driver and has done some long (1000 mile plus) round trips.  It gets dirty and the paint gets a chip every now and then. Will it win a car show? No although it does get occasional minor gong but the competition has to be weak :-).  Do I love it? More than any other car I've ever had. It's rewarded the time and money spent on it 1000 times over with enjoyment touring this fabulous country together.  TC Gremlin rest on a hoist in our garage sitting above the child bride's MX5. I often look up when getting into the daily drive and note the mud stains under the guards and think I must clean them off, but as fast as I clean it, the stains are replaced with new ones.....

:YES!!! The early cars had a black dash panel. I can recall mt dads
first Tc, I think a 47, did indeed have the black panel. I think the
two or three after that also. I do not know when the bronze panel came
about.

TC 6370 had rexine and a (worn) black-painted center panel when I imported it from England in 1970. I eventually sold the car and the buyer overlooked the fact that the car originally had a black panel and changed it to bronze. When I bought the car back I sent my complete fascia to Craig Seabrook for him to restore all my instruments and built a new panel. I mentioned to him that I still had photos of the original panel in black, and thought it should still be that way. He agreed that black was original in that period, and changed it back to black. I opted not to stay with Rexine and instead got one of Craig Seabrook s beautiful figured walnut panels, but rexine was indeed original on that car.  Karl VacekRiverside, Illinois USATC 6370  From: James Beal

I am so used to seeing rexine-covered dash panels with the bronze colored instrument cluster that it struck me as odd that this car had a black instrument cluster.  Does the collective "we" know if rexine with a black cluster was a common occurrence?

:YES!!! The early cars had a black dash panel. I can recall mt dads
first Tc, I think a 47, did indeed have the black panel. I think the
two or three after that also. I do not know when the bronze panel came
about.

I think it's like anything in life. Cars, houses, paintings, works of art, pork bellies. The car is worth what somebody is will to pay for it. Not a penny more or less......

For that price, it's a TC that can't be driven (except by somebody who could afford to burn the resto cost).  Too bad.

Fred asked that I share this with the group.  It is nice to hear from someone who has probably seen more dashboards and body tubs than any of us have.  He also wishes us a Happy New Year from the Whitworth Shop.  Wrenches & ale,

So right. I had a friend that spent $60,000 restoring his TC and sold it later for $28,500 which I thought was high, but the TC was beautiful.
