Doug

Yes, it is. I have one in my TC as well.

And, please correct me if I'm wrong, I believe they were made by Derrington.
At least that's what someone told me long ago.

the "expert books" as an available color this early in production but I can
see no evidence of repaint at anytime in its life. It also has the early
aluminan coffin valve cover and the U shaped headlight lenses. The TC was acquired
from an estate sale in Maryland. The story is that the TC was brought over
from the middle east by a retiring US diplomat. At that time it was not
running, but was in unrestored original solid condition. The owner pulled the
engine and transmission and registered the car with the NEMGTR; When I
purchased the car the engine was in as many pieces as can be and the transmission was
lost. The TC still carries its Arabic licence plate which unfortunately I
have been unable to determine country of origin. The body had good wood but
the hinge mounting points have been cut larger hence the body will require a
total rebuild. I just finished restoring my 1948 MG YT and will begin work
on the TC this winter.

Mr Rodrigues may be interested to know that TA 1139 is listed in M.G.s On Patrol as being a Lancashire Police Car. It had the original plate BTF 75 and was painted Black with a Blue interior. My TA 1128 had plate BTF 76 and was also a Police Car.

I went to Snopes and read the article but don't believe it. If you're
using your cruise control the computer tries to maintain a constant speed,
i.e., you go up a hill it increases the throttle, you go down a hill, it
decreases the throttle.

Doesn't it stand to reason that if your wheels start to spin it's going to
decrease the throttle, trying to slow you down, not send you flying into the
air? I'm sure that if my reasoning is wrong someone here will straighten
me out (kindly, please).

I decided not to put cruise control on my TC, by the way.

I too read through the article and I tend to agree with Gene, if your tires suddenly lose traction and start to spin, the cruise control will automatically reduce throttle, perhaps more gently and safely than a panicky driver would. Of course on the other hand, I would never be so unwise as to disagree with an officer of the law, even a retired one.

Badger, who does not have cruise on his TC and has only non-functioning cruise on his decrepit Volvo but who nonetheless enjoys discussing theory.
