EMGO is one brand you might be thinking of for mirrors. --------------------------------------------

They are all sizes shapes and lengths of shaft. Some of them have a shaft with just a threaded end. I have used them on MG/TC/TD/TF without any modifications Install them through the slot that the windscreen pivots on. Two nuts and two washers are all that is needed. Two minutes to remove if you wish to lower the windshield. The ones that I have seen are all stainless steel, Plus they stay far enough forward to clear side curtains This way there is no drilling needed. Sandy. Sent from Mail for Windows 10

I found EMGO mirror's that looks surprisingly similar to the original mirror size and shape. I think I found a retailer on ebay or online that sells EMGO catalog items. It can be used horizontal or vertical. It swivels. I go horizontal when driving and vertical when parked. Rather than moint it in the typical location that keeps the windshield from being lowered, I made up an alum mount and drilled it to keep the original mount holes intact on the driver side stantion, should I want to install the original type mirror with original hardware. I have one for the passenger side I use sometimes, which must be mounted in the typical place on the windscreen stantion. It can be mounted in such a way as doors will open and close. Not the highest quality, as the actual mirror fit and rubber seal is a bit sloppy, but I think it is mostly stainless steel of some type, and the mirror is good quality. 2nd pic shows how I modified the stem mount to allow better fit to the stantion on passenger side. Driver side, with special alum mount I made, has a locking nut inside the alum mount that cannot be seen. Duncan- TC9866 --------------------------------------------
