Re: eBay
I beg to differ. I have purchased hundreds of items using eBay, from a $150K
Ferrari to a $40K Jag to $1000 camera lenses to $100 sheets and egg cups and
yes, even a MGTC. Never have I had a seller misrepresent an item. In fact
every seller was proud to represent the item exactly as is and as I
expected. That is what bothers me most about this situation.
Admittedly there are cheats on eBay but they are dealt with by eBay. I am
convinced that will happen in this case. eBay is not anywhere close to a
flea market and is quick to deal with stolen merchandise if discovered. Your
drain plug example was not a misrepresentation, just an uninformed bidder.
That is not the same thing.

eBay is just an electronic version of a flea market. There are some
great items, some junk, and of course some stolen or misrepresented.
Last year someone offered a new aftermarket oil drain plug for a TD;
it went for just over $20 to some bidder who apparently had no idea
what the thing was worth. (Same item from Moss is only $7.50.) Should
eBay have notified the buyer that he paid close to three times Moss
price? Couple of years back at the British Car Swap Meet in the
Chicago area I saw a seller with an add-on heater labeled as from an
MG TD. I examined the item and noticed under the many coats paint the
oval Ford script logo. But before you conclude this seller was crook,
remember this heater COULD have been installed in an MG; it certainly
was the correct size and shape.

Group,
I was told by ebay a few months ago, if I had a valid bid on my item, I COULD NOT REMOVE THE ITEM from ebay.
This seems to contradict from what has happened. with the TC spare tire.
I think it was the day after Thanksgiving or maybe Halloween, someone set off a bomb blast at the headquarters of either or both ebay and paypal. No one hurt, just broken glass. Could there be some disgruntled customers out there?

Re: Fw: ebay
eBay made a whole big deal out of not putting the names of bidders
on the page to prevent scammers from working those email addresses
with fake second chance bids. Now, they reversed themselves. They
have a policy on their website that says if you have a legitimate
bid you cannot withdraw the item unless you have a reserve and it
was not met. But the TC tire somehow got withdrawn in spite of
bids. I stand behind my previous post: eBay, swap meet, flea
market: BUYER BEWARE!

I thought it was just me and my inability to use the PC to even 10% of its capability. I have similar problems with yahoo.

Ebay
I have found that if I put the search in quotes I get what I want (I think!), however when I entered MG I got 31,000 hits and when I put MG in quotes I got 25,000! Way,way wrong either way.
Also I used to just modify the search rather than retype it. Now I can't. Bah and double bah!

Ebay
I don't think ebay has changed much. MG still is short for :
milligrams, magazine, machine guns, mega hertz, and milk glass to name
just a few. Always try to refine your search as much as possible and
use the delete key judiciously.

Ebay Motors has changed dramatically. If you dont see anything strange you
must still be fortunate enough to be on the old format.

MG TABCers,
Help. I know this has been covered some in the past, but has anyone else been able to "opt out" of this "new" ebay thing. For some reason ebay switched me to the "new" ebay without asking me and now I can't find a thing. It is really, really screwed up. I have contacted ebay a number of times and they tell me all the steps that are suppose to take me back to the old ebay but I tried them all and none of them work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: ebay
Jim-
I know, its a disaster, in my mind designed by folks that dont understand
why and how ebay is really used.
I sent them many requests to 'switch me back' and they finally did. I notice
that my ebay display now has a notation of 'beta format'. Not sure what that
means but its the old, usable format.
I did fill out their questionnaire about what is wrong with this new format,
but they dont care what some Engineer in Ohio thinks, anyway.
Ask them to switch you back.
