Sorry to pee on any more of your choicest fruit, but a few points to consider if you're contemplating turning a caravan chassis into a car trailer: caravan suspensions are often very soft, as their tare and laden weights differ only marginally, whereas a laden car trailer may well weigh 4 times as much as an empty one; check the load rating of tyres, wheels, brakes, and couplings to make sure they're up to the job; caravan wheel bearings are notoriously neglected and often knackered; make sure your car is rated by the manufacturers to tow the total weight, or the police and insurers may be _most_ unhappy; make sure you incorporate a means of securing the TC by its wheels or axles, not by its chassis, as even a TC will bounce around on its suspension enough to loosen or damage securing straps otherwise. The above is penned by a hypocrite who collected his SA on a 13cwt (tare) trailer towed 140 miles by a diesel Astra van. Progress was sedate. -- Kevin Poole B270NZ, SA1838, TC8512, GAN4/63840, GHD5/324616 Car Transport by Tiltbed Trailer - based near Derby
