Yesterday I smelt burning oil and have looked today. There is oil running (not dripping) from the starter bendix hole in the bell housing. It isn't coming through the bottom of the housing. I suspect the camshaft core plug is leaking. What do you think. Either way the engine will come out after the CT and my daughter has gone home. So that's 2 TC's with engine oil leaks to solve and a Mini Cooper S for a rebuild,.the small ride-on to fix, the big mower on the tractor to fix, and awning to fit to the wall outside, the grass to cut... I may get to sit down for Christmas dinner.

Re: Oil leak
Norman Cannot see how oil would run fron the starter hole without comming out of the drain hole unless the hole was blocked and the clutch housing had filled with oil. Check you dont have a major leak from the back of the rocker cover gasket.. With new clear oil it can be hard to see. Clive m mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Re: Oil leak
Clive, First thing I did was check the top end for leaks. I guess the drain hole is blocked and the bell housing is half full of oil. Just starting work so will now soon. Re: Oil leak
Norman, Is your oil pressure normal or on the low side? That's on your leaky TC that is. Lots of oil gallery plugs and one could be left out. You could be filling up the valve cover even and overwhelming the gasket. Rocker arm shaft? Just seems to me if oil is crawling out the starter it's a major leak and would effect oil pressure if it's a galley plug. Hard to diagnose 1000's of miles away.
