I am sorry to have to report Phil's death on December 20. He had been in ill health for several years.
Phil was one of those unique TC guys. Often the butt of jokes about his Italian accent, often telling funny stories. One last story he told me in a conversation in October was how his mother had immigrated to the US after the war and Phil was coming over later by ship. His mother sent him ten dollars spending money for the trip (!). Phil hits the bar on the ship and finds the bartender is a fellow Italian who says "don't buy your own drinks, let the Americans pay." Phil, very much the ladies man, followed his advice and arrived in New York with nine dollars left.
Phil made us some nice bits and pieces in his shop - axles, bronze sleeved brake cylinders, rebuilt water pumps, etc. If one of his axles broke, he would say, "you gotta put in da sheems!". Mike Sherrell agreed with that and has a write-up in his book.
We'll miss you Phil.

Re: Phil Marino
Several of Phil's parts grace my TC and all of them have helped to keep it on the road and very reliable. I was glad to have known him.
- Steve Simmons, TC8975 (with Phil's oil filter adapter, bronze water pump impeller, master cylinder + extended nut, and others of his parts installed)

Re: Phil Marino
Sorry to hear of Phil's passing. I had the pleasure of meeting up with Phil at his home in Pasadena when I was on the West Coast about 15 years ago. I was in the process of restoring two TC's for a gentleman and I had used many of Phil's parts and modifications on both cars. We had only spoken on the phone up until then and it was great to put a face to the voice. Phil was quite the character, and had lots of great stories. he will surely be missed. RIP Phil. Re: Phil Marino
Just like to add to the recognition for Phil. I learned a lot from casual conversations with him at GOF meets, and benefited from the parts he made. Definitely one who made a difference.
