Re: ?
Joe-
Thanks for the info... I will have to take a peak into the tank to see if a
standpipe and screen exists... If not it seems like a good winter
project....
Thanks -
Joel
PS - I carry one of those old fashioned bicycle pumps when I am on the
road. You never know when you will need to top off a tire, or in my case
clear the fuel line!

Joel usually the fuel pick ups have a screen and a standpipe in the tank,
you
should fix properly unless you only venture 2 blocks from the air
compressor.

Carl-
Thanks for the info....Sounds like a straightforward job.... I hope not to
find too much rust etc... as the tanks is just 2 years old! It will be
interesting to find what the source of the problem is....
Regards,
Joel

Joel,
the standpipe Joe refers to is made out of wire screen/gauze. It is not
visiblethrough the fuel fille ropening, since it's ontheother side ofa
baffle. Way to get at it is to (starting with a tank as empty as possible,
and with a fire extinguisher handy), disconnect the fuel line at the tank,
drain remaining fuel, then unsvrew the outlet fitting itself from the tank.
Betcha your screen is garped up quite thoroughly with rust, dirt & "varnish"
from evaporated fuel. It's a 1-hour (max.) job to pull, clean, & replace.
