Hi Julian I tend to agree - Part of the pleasure in my TC is having a car that is as near to how it was in 1947 as possible I have no problem with safety mods such as improved halogen h'lights and mods that can if nescessary be easily reversed however a new type motor seems a bit much. Perhaps in the long term future we may have to go down this route when all the old XPAG blocks are worn out! However as usual this group has so much knowledge and diversity we need the catholic mentality to allow all views Paul TC 3348 Cold/windy south Herts UK

Julian, One of the reasons so many have bought MG's since the days of Old Number One is that they were modifiable and the factory would support you doing it. Witness the special tuning and competitions department. I do agree, however, that we do try to modify some areas which were just about right in the first place. It all depends how you want to use and enjoy them. Cheers, Peter Ross TC 8892 Bolton, Massachusetts

To paraphrase the Irishman, if I had wanted a decent car I would not have started from here. The TC is a car of its time and development. It has a number of faults, all of which have been analysed ad nauseam in this forum with the recommended solutions, none of which seem to include rebuilding the original back to the correct specification and enjoy it for what it is. The TC cannot have sold so well if it had been a bad car in the first place.
