Just to set the record straight it is Vise Grip. Vice Grip sounds like an assistant grip as in Vice President. Ron Simon --- Badger mrbadger@home.com> wrote:

Have a care! - We English invented the language after all - you chaps just speak a colonial dialect in a funny accent!! Clive It all depends upon one's point of view Clive. The way we see it, your lot merely came up with the concept. We perfected it. I'ts a very good thing that we have chosen to delete your "King's English" idea from our version as, during certain terms, our "President's English" would have been pretty unthinkable.

Wonder if you still use the King Jame's Bible? Badger wrote:

G'day Badger I've come in late. I hope you will pardon me but.. I must take issue with you re your attempts to manipulate the English language. Seems you have never read that wonderful 'put-down' (A horrible yank term, much akin to the vile 'gotten') which so beautifully puts things into perspective.. to wit: "The English language in the hands of its inventors is a terrible weapon, or, when weilded by mere colonials or other primitives (read 'Americans') is more usually an instrument of torture"... so eloquently demonstrated by your clumsy attempts. My most sincere and gracious compliments.. Jeff TA2828

So now we have to dig up some Saxons, Normans, and ancient Celts to wield the language THEY started?? As that great half-American half-Brit Winston Churchill would have said, "Bah!". ;-) Best, Ray

Or, as Winston Churchill so succinctly put it, " England and America, two great countries divided only by a common language". Ray wrote:
