The discussion on spares here on the forum has jogged my brain cells.
(Something that rarely happens these days.) My current TC
restoration project car has had tube shocks put on the front of it
somewhere in it's glorious past. I would like to replace them with
original shocks if I can find a rebuildable pair. Anyone got a pair
of front shocks they would like to part with for something less than
my first born child?

Russ, Although front shocks are supposed to be available from Apple, I have
found that the supply ebbs and flows when there are no cores. Also they are
quite pricey without a core. I had hoped to find someone with a pair that
were rebuildable so I could use them for cores at Apple. Hummm cores at
Apple..... anyway, good luck with your box case TC. My present project TC
is down to the frame. I had to buy all new sheet metal and wood for it.

Neil,
Yours is the second such request I've seen recently and I'm concerned
because I'm in the same situation - just haven't done anything about it yet.
My TC is mostly still in boxes I bought it in. It doesn't have any front
shocks, not even tube-types, but I have seen lever shocks advertised (e.g.
Apple Hydraulics) both with and without a core, so I pushed that issue to
the back burner. Does Apple usually not have any to sell without a core or
are they available but very pricey. Seems I remember the price being not
too bad, but I haven't looked for years.

Hi Neil
I too have telescoping shocks on the front end of my old racer. I
called apple hydraulics, who did not have any to sell, but did have some
in for rebuild from Abingdon spares. So I called Abingdon, who sold me
the pair for $185 ea, if I remember correctly. I do know that it
wasn't much more than apple wanted to rebuild them. I was delighted, as
you can imagine. My point is, try Abingdon Spares and maybe you'll get
lucky.
