Dear Octangonisers,
I have really enjoyed a great evening of sage e-mail advice, abuse and
despair. I love it. My wife cannot understand why I keep disappearing to my
study to read e-mail rather than watch telly or hold an intelligent
conversation with her.
I disagree with Geoff that the MG Ts are not an ICON. For good or bad they
are. I am hooked. I love my car, I talk to it, I drive it lots and I love
every bit of information I can discover. I fear divorce is pending!
Now I am currently interested, with another nut (the nameless Dean Jensen),
in Body Serial numbers. We have reached the stage where we can see patterns
and can draw some conclusions but like all good researchers we want more
information. This requires us to return to the jungle that is the TABC list!!
Roger Furneaux supplied a long list of TA body numbers from the T Register
records. Only three numbers came from the list. BUT at least 4 of Rogers
numbers were from list members cars who had not given us their numbers!!
SO CAN I MAKE ONE LAST (HONEST GUV) PLEA TO YOU ALL. Please could EVERYONE
e-mail ME individually (not the list!) and tell me for each of your Ts
whether you DO or DON'T have a record of the body number!! If you haven't
given us the number please do if possible. We want both positive and negative
answers. It will help to let Dean and I know that we have every possible
number from the list and also the percentage of list cars which still have a
number associated with it.
Please indulge me - I must have another fix - oo oo.
If you have already e-mailed Dean or myself please feel free to ignore this.
By the way has anyone else on the list managed to drive their TA/B/C off
their wheel ramps? If you want to know how to do it I can provide full
technical details, but would hate to bore anybody. The neat little holes this
process produces in both front wings are rather sweet too. How to get a TB
suspended solidly 10 inches from the ground safely back to earth is also an
interesting puzzle especially when none of your jacks will reach that high
and you dare not tell anyone else what an ass you have been. My wife was a
wonder and saved the garage doors and my head from severe damage. Pictures
available for anyone with a serious interest (or wanting a good laugh).
I drove it to the repairers today (I would have trailered it but fear of
lynching from the driven set made me think again).
Octagonal love to you all.
Mike Marjot
