TF Question

Post by CVMGA@aol.com » Tue Mar 21, 2000 10:35 am

Greetings,

Sorry if I stray away from TC's for a moment, but I have a friend in the
restoration business with the following question:

On a TF, the bottom edge of the replacement outer sheet metal(rocker panel)
as it runs from front to rear of the car appears to make a right angle bend
and attach underneath the car to the wooden main rail. However, the wood
supplied by the customer has a rounded edge and thus the metal cannot conform
to the wood. Which is correct?

If it is like the TC, it would be a squared off edge, correct?

Thanks for your expertise.

As I remember, when we fit those pieces on my back door neighbor's car, we
had to make the metal conform to the wooden main rail - we were totally
rebuilding the body tub and had bought a wood kit - I really don't remember
the metal being preformed though - I believe it was straight and not formed
into a right angle.
