Today`s news, to quote the Times, is that Alchemy intend to produce new M.G.s as sports cars at around 25000, built on aluminium chassis with glassfibre bodies, with most components bought in, including engines and gearboxes. on this basis they hope the first car will appear in about 18 months time. They intend to recruit 5 new designers to help forge a new style of car that can give M.G.Cars the showroom glamour so painfully lacking in Rover Group. We shall see, but at least it offers a glimmer of hope to the likes of us with M.G. in our blood, even if we do own the best models they ever produced, and we are happy with what we`ve got! A fly in the ointment is our stupid politicians trying to get a large manufacturer to bid in over Alchemy`s head . I don`t think this will do M.G. any good at all.
