John, The inner spring was an MG official mod to raise oil pressure for competition work. Normally just the larger outer spring in the relief valve. Just remove the inner spring and the oil pressure on the gauge should drop to about 60 psi. I have not had this spring out for 45 years and to my astonishment there were TWO springs in the guide, an outer spring and a smaller diameter inner spring. Are there supposed to be two springs or just one? Any comments so I can put it back together with one new spring to get lower pressure.
