Source for New TC Carpets
Hello Group
I am about to order new carpets. Mine are old and rotten and are not original.
I have searched the email archives and found several members recommended Heritage. I did not find any other recommendations.
Here are the choices in the U. S.
Moss at about $200 on sale
Abbingdon at about $300
Heritage at about $400 for Karvel
Is Heritage worth the extra? I am willing to spend some to preserve originality.
Looking for opinions.
Thanks
Larry

Larry, I used the Moss carpets in my TC and was (and am) extremely pleased.
I had to do a little trimming, but I think you will have to do that with
anybody's carpet set.
Too bad Badger is not on the list anymore, he had a beautiful set of
handmade Persian carpets in his TC.

Re: Source for New TC Carpets
Good Lord;
That is a wee bit pricey for a replacement carpet. The
"originals" were nothing to get excited about. Just plain, practical,
inexpensive (Cheap) unbound, thin carpet, that bunched up. We put rubber mats over the
carpet to hold them in place
For pennies on the dollar you can go to any carpet store and
get leftovers of the finest quality. For example Wilton wool type carpet.
Make a pattern, cut them out and put in place. For a few extra dollars they
will bind the edges for you. A lot better than the originals.
Badger used to put old pieces of oriental carpet in his cars.
Sort of wild , woolly and totally :"Mahvelous".
Now if you want to be in a Roll Royce mood, purchase some
sheepskins. Just wash them in Woolite when soiled.

Re: Source for New TC Carpets
I oredred a complete set of carpets and interior for a Healey from Heritage.
Much of it did not fit and had to be redone. Not what to expect at their
prices. When I asked for demensions on another item, the employee
appologetically replied that when he went to look the owner yelled at him
told him to get back to work that they had no time for such things.
Apparently the owner thinks they are the only one in the business. Buyer
beware!!! Mark

Re: Source for New TC Carpets
Thom,
A few years back I purchased a set of carpets from Heritage. They are nice
BUT, I wan't impressed
with the way they fitted. I had to do a LOT of trimming. For the money, I'd
go with MOSS.
I had also purchased a set of Leather Seats Covers for my TC from Heritage.
At that tinme they had told me that there were complete
instructions on their website. But, they also tried to convince me to send
my seat to them and have them do the work.
After purchasing them I went on their website to look at these instructions
(They give you a code in order
to do so once you purchase the item). There wasn't any! After finally
getting through to them (I had to threaten to send the covers back),
they admitted that they had never instealled a set of MG-TC seats before!
Luckily for me I have experience in Leather work! They didn't have
a Dart in the Seat Squad cover and there was a lot of rework to get them to
fit correctly. And, they boast that they are made in UK with
Connolly Hides. That issue I have with them when I opened the box and there
was paper label "Made in Canada".
I wrote an article on installing the covers, complete with pictures and it
was published in the British Marque Car Club News a few years back. Anybody
interested can contact them for a copy of the Article. Oh yeah, Heritage
heard about the Article and asked me for permission to
place it on their website. Permission was denied.

Re: Source for New TC Carpets
I am very sorry to hear of the apparent displeasure with Heritage. A couple of years ago I purchased a carpet kit (not their most expensive one) and was very pleased with it. Of course, I had a professional install it. He was impressed with the carpet itself since at the time Moss carpet (at least for MGAs) was not very good. Moss seems fine now. Maybe these things go in cycles?

Well said Mark:
I will never purchase anything from Heritage.
Even Cousin Bruce Collins told the truth behind his purchase of so called
Connely Leather seat covers From Heritage. Made in Canada and they did not fit.
