Lucas Tripod Headlight bulbs

Post by gordonblawson » Tue Jun 28, 2005 8:48 am

When i bought my TD, it had a pair of very powerful bulbs in the Tripods... they were marked RIVAL (which i understand was a Lucas brand). The output was 60/35. The lighting was as good as my daily driver (actually, better). I had one burn out and attempted to replace it... everything i tried had very poor output. Best thing i found was a 50/45 from Abington Spares or Brown Gammon (forget which). Not quite as bright, but it and one of the others seems to be "ok". Anyone know if the RIVAL 60/35 are still around, or might there be one out there for sale?

A great source for obscure light bulbs, for any purpose, is SunRay Lighting in Irvine, CA. 949 area code. Whatney Way is the street they are on. John Seim Irvine, CA gordonblawson wrote:
