Ian, Just seen list for first time in several days. You were correct. Neil Cairns wrote a (humorous) article entitled 'Devil's Advocate in the Octagon Bulletin #400 (Sept 2003) page 44 which mentioned this problem. By coincidence, in the same issue there was a question on the subject and answers to this appeared in #402 (Nov 2003) p35-37. Incidentally for those who are concerned about the MOT test I modified my TA sidelights as suggested by Steve Taylor (no relation) in Bulletin #340 (Sept '98) and it has passed the test at 2 different testing stations.
