Bolt colors
It's a small detail, and there may not be a simple answer . . .
Were the wing and running board bolt, screw, and washer heads painted on the outside where they are visible?
The shiny new unpainted hardware looks fresh. I wonder if Abingon had the time to paint them?

Re: Bolt colors
Tom,
I'm sure Roger Furnaux will come in on this. I agree that shiny new bolts do
look out of place on most restorations I've seen.
I would be surprised if the bolts used in 1945 were plated. I expect they
were black when they were first fitted. Cerainly the 1945 pictures I have from
the Gaydon archives don't show any shiny bolts.
To get the right effect, I had mine zinc-blacked by a local metal finisher,
which is corrosion resistant (but not abrasive-resistant). They still look
good after 2 years running.
